Money Today 23. 11. 2023 Korean startup's e-voting technology wins world's biggest CES award for best innovation

A Korean startup has been recognised for its innovation and technology on the world's top stage with its blockchain-based e-voting technology.

According to the blockchain industry, zkrypto won the Best Innovation Award at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) for its 'zkVoting (Poll Station)'.

Held every January in Las Vegas, USA, CES is the world's largest consumer electronics trade show, and zkrypto won the Best Innovation Award for the second consecutive year.

The zkVoting Polling Station is a system that securely communicates a voter's identity and vote, allowing voters to verify that their vote is accurately reflected and publicly verify the results of the vote count.

"This technology can compensate for the problems of offline voting systems, preventing the possibility of election manipulation and enhancing transparency," said zkrypto, "and has been evaluated as a key technology to complete digital democracy."

Developed through joint research by faculty members from Hanyang University and Kookmin University, 'zkVoting Polling Station' is currently applied to the Central Election Commission's blockchain online voting system, and the system upgrade and expansion project is underway, and zkrypto is exploring overseas expansion of 'zkVoting Polling Station'.

"We expect this technology to become the cornerstone of digital direct democracy," said Oh Hyun-ok, CEO of zkrypto. "It will bring us one step closer to tangible democracy."
